From our CIO, Page Moon Urgent Recommendation: Update Your Solutions First IT Security Stack

Beginning this month, Focus Data Solutions is urging all our clients to expand their Solutions First program with two security services that address best in class security at the intersection of hardware, software, and people: Zero Trust and Security Awareness Training.

In today’s interconnected digital landscape, where cyber threats lurk around every virtual corner, the importance of keeping your company’s IT security stack updated cannot be overstated.

What is Zero Trust?

In simplest terms, Zero Trust platforms provide complete control over how your team uses your IT network and how applications and data flows in and out of your network. The service enables you to protect key IT systems, sensitive data, or the entire IT network.

Cybersecurity professionals agree. Zero Trust is the best way to deter hackers in our current and evolving environment. This foundational cyber service helps to determine that network users are who they claim and adds ways to ensure criminals are identified and stopped.

What is Security Awareness Training?

Security Awareness Training is a structured educational program designed to inform employees about potential cybersecurity risks, threats, and best practices to help them recognize, avoid, and respond to security incidents effectively.

Team members receive pre-determined, training emails, to determine if they are susceptible to phishing and spam attacks. If they interact with a training email, such as clicking the “phishing link” they will be enrolled in an online tutorial that provides information on phishing and spam, with the goal of educating them to spot criminal activities and nefarious emails.

Why now?

We have offered these security protocols as recommended “add on” services for the last 2+ years. At this juncture, following a review of our clients who use these services, we are encouraging all our clients to adopt this cyber resilience and cyber secure stack of services that address the elements that put companies at the greatest risk: team members who are untrained in cybersecurity and social engineering. The data shows that companies that utilize Zero Trust services AND Security Awareness Training experience fewer cybersecurity events and are better protected from infiltration.

Our team will be reaching out to you over the coming weeks to discuss how we can implement these services into your current Solutions First security plan. Focus Data Solutions research and development group will continue to build upon our security services as threat evolve.
