Setting Up For Success: Getting a Computer for a New Employee

Onboarding a new team member consists of a lot of moving parts. You want your new employee to be ready to go on his or her start date. A set up laptop is key to a great experience. Here are five tips for working with our IT Team to help your co-worker have a terrific first day! Share this with your HR team and anyone involved in the employee onboarding process.

Let Us Know You’ve Hired!

The offer letter is signed! Now is the time to let us know you’ve hired and that you will need a laptop prepared for your new team member. Don’t wait! You can enter a support ticket or call your Client Account Manager to request a new employee computer set up.

Plan for Five Days for a Laptop Burn-in

To provide a thorough laptop set up, our team requires a minimum of five (5) business days from receipt of the computer to ensure your team member’s equipment is ready to go. Please notify us as soon as possible so we can schedule the set up and delivery prior to your employee’s start date.

Do you need to purchase a new laptop?

Notify us immediately! Given supply and delivery delays, the sooner an order is placed, the sooner the laptop will be delivered and configured. We recommend our clients keep a laptop or two in inventory for quick set up. Work with your Client Account Manager and take advantage of laptop deals when they are available.

Repurposing a computer? Let’s talk about setting up profiles.

Work with your Client Account Manager to build a standard laptop profile for your team. These profiles can be updated and customized for specific employees during the set-up process. If there are specific programs or applications your new team member requires, please include that information in your new employee request.

Do We Need to Ship? Allow Time for Delivery.

Plan an additional 1-2 business days after our technical work is completed for us to ship a laptop to your new team member, if required. Please confirm the employee’s complete address, telephone number, and any apartment numbers or delivery instructions. Your employee must be available to sign for the delivery.
